Mannanam thrilled by Fr. Chavara’s sainthood

On Sunday, after the Mass, a special prayer will be held

The team will be led by Father James Madathikandathil, the vice-postulator of the naming procedures of Father Chavara.

Kottayam: While the canonization of Blessed Chavara Kuriakose Elias will be held on November 23 at St Peter’s Square in Vatican, his home turf in Mannanam is all set to celebrate the occasion.

Special prayers and Holy Mass  will be held at  St Joseph’s Church, Mannanam, on all these days. A team of 90 persons of the Chavara family left for Vatican on Thursday  morning.

Another team of 20 which includes the family of Maria Rose Jose, whose correction of the squint eye ball was attributed for the canonization of Father Chavara,  and a group of CMI priests will leave for Vatican on Friday morning.

The team will be led by Father James Madathikandathil, the vice-postulator of the naming procedures of Father Chavara.

On Friday,  the Mass will be held at  6 a.m., 8 a.m., 11 a.m., 4.30 p.m. and a special prayer at 6.30 p.m. On Saturday,  the  Mass and a special rosary procession will be held by evening.  

On Sunday,  after the  Mass, a special  prayer will be  held. The live telecast of the canonization will be shown  at the St Joseph’s Church by 1p.m.

The  roads leading to Mannanam are being maintained to  welcome the crowds for the celebrations. The work  of Mannanam Ammancherry road was completed and that of Mannanam  MG University and Mannanam  Ambalakavala roads was progressing.
