VS Achuthanandan alleges money flow into VM Sudheeran’s yathra

The veteran leader had sought a CBI inquiry into the bribe gate

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Opposition Leader V S Achuthanandan alleged that bar owners were pumping in money for the success of KPCC president V M Sudheeran’s Janapakasha yathra which began from Kasargod earlier this month.

The opposition leader said though the KPCC president was making lofty statements about prohibition and liquor free state, his party were workers were taking huge cash from bar owners to ensure the success of his yathra. 

VS statement came in the wake of huge embarrassed suffered by the Congress leadership following reports that party workers in Thrissur district had collected funds from bar owners.

The Thiruvilamala Congress Block Committee had taken Rs 5000 contribution from a bar owner in connection with the Sudheeran’s Janapaksha yathra.

Mr Achuthanandan said that under these circumstances one could not expect a free and fair probe into the bar bribe allegations involving Finance Minister K M Mani. He said Oommen Chandy government had become a liability for the people of the state.

While the veteran leader had sought a CBI inquiry into the bribe gate, his party CPM and the LDF had shot down the proposal.
