KCR identifies 40 spots for skyscrapers in Hyderabad
The lake would be cleaned on a war footing
Hyderabad: The Telangana government has decided to forge ahead with its proposed world’s tallest tower near Sanjeevaiah Park besides a row of skyscrapers around the famed Hussainsagar.
Chief Minister, K. Chandrasekhar Rao, who held a five hour marathon meeting with chief secretary Dr Rajiv Sharma, principal secretary to CM Narsing Rao and other senior officials, identified 40 spots around the lake spread over 100 acres for construction of the skyscrapers in the first phase. Moreover, the lake would be cleaned on a war footing.
The skyscrapers around Hussainsagar would address all environment concerns and stick to Supreme Court guidelines.
Besides Sanjeevaiah Park, mega-towers will come up at places like Buddha Bhavan, Ranigunj Bus Depot, Lower Tank Bund, Kundanbagh, Patigadda, Sailing Club, Youth Hostel, Raghava Sadan, Nursing College, Dilkusha Guest House, Green Lands, New MLA quarters, Electricity Bhavan, Snow World etc. 40 locations have been identified by the government.
“The government will give top priority to protecting the Hussainsagar. The cleaning operation and check on inflow of pollutants into the lake should be taken up on a war footing,” he told officials.
Mr Rao told the meeting that several corporates would come forward to construct the proposed towers and asked officials to prepare proper guidelines for the development of the lands and other related matters.
Announcing Rs 100 crore for Hussainsagar’s cleaning operation and construction of nalas to divert pollutants, he also stated that the government would construct a new ‘Vinayak Sagar’ near Indira Park for immersion of idols.
Since it has been a tradition to immerse idols in Hussainsagar, its waters would be used to fill the new ‘Vinayak Sagar’ tank.
An official’s sub-committee led by the chief secretary will oversee the work. The CM will convene a meeting with Ganesh Utsav Committees.
