Hyderabad: To build a new capital with proper connectivity, the AP government has sent a report to the Centre asking for funds, as a  massive effort has to be made to build the new capital with proper connectivity to all the regions of the state.

The state government needs Rs 5,000 crore for this. An estimated Rs 390 crore will be needed for the Raj Bhavan, Rs 60 crore for Chief Minister’s Interim Secretariat, Rs 2,010 crore for the Legislature and Secretariat and Rs 1,650 for building the HC complex.

For land acquisition, the state has requisitioned Rs 20,500 crore. Sources said that for the construction of Raj Bhavan, Assembly buildings and the High court complex, land has to be acquired separately and the government can't use land acquired through the land pooling system for security and other reasons.

The Union finance ministry had recently sent a communication to the AP Finance department asking for the proposals for construction of the capital city following which the funds would be sanctioned.
