Karimnagar: A debt-ridden farmer allegedly committed suicide at a village here, police said on Monday.
Farmer Battu Yellaiah (45), of Gudem village in the district, had borrowed money from some private financiers to raise his crops, an officer at Mustabad Police Station said.
However, owing to drought the yield was not good because of which he was unable to pay the debts.
Under stress over the debt burden, Yellaiah took the extreme step last night at his home by consuming an insecticide, he said.
