Rare glimpse of Ashoor Khana-e-Khilwat relics
2,000 devotees including foreigners thronged to visit the Ashoor Khana
Hyderabad: A heritage structure built by the VII Nizam of Hyderabad known as Ashoor Khana-e-Khilwat in the Old city was opened for devotees on Sunday afternoon. The Ashoor Khana is opened only once in a year in the month of Muharram due to religious and security reasons. This Ashoor Khana has “Alams” and other replicas of gold, studded with diamonds and silver, which are said to be valued in crores of rupees.
It also houses many gifts sent to Hyderabad by kings of other countries during the Nizams’ rule.
“Ashoor Khana-e-Khilwat is under control of the Nizam’s Trust maintained by Prince Mufaqqam Jah Bahadur,” said Syed Hamed Hussain Jaffri, president of AP Shia youth conference.
He added that around 2,000 devotees including foreigners thronged to visit the Ashoor Khana on Sunday.
