Torture of T P Chandrasekharan case convicts baseless

The report would be considered by the commission soon

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A probe by the Chief Investigative Officer of the Human Rights Commission has found as baseless, charges of severe torture that those accused of T. P.Chandrasekharan’s murder were subjected to. It was reported that the accused were tortured while in the Viyyur central prison.

A report submitted by Chief Investigation Officer DIG S.Sreejith said the prison officials were forced to use minimum force on the accused as part of ensuring discipline in prisons.

However, it could not be considered as severe torture. The report would be considered by the commission soon.

The probe was initiated on the basis of allegations that M.C.Anoop, Kirimani Manoj, Muhammed Shafi, Kodi Suni, S,Sijith, T.K.Rejeesh, Shinoj, Muhammed Refeek and Trouser Manoj were brutally tortured in the prison.
