Be aware! Xiaomi has two variants of the Redmi Note
The two Note variants sport different hardware and are priced closely apart
Xiaomi has launched the Redmi Note for India. They unveiled it in July this year, but finally have placed it on sale in India for next week.
The Redmi Note is a 5.5-inch phablet and priced at a sweet Rs 8,999 for India. However, Xiaomi has two variants of the Redmi Note phablet. While one is priced at Rs 8,999, the other is slightly higher by Rs 1,000. The two variants are Redmi Note and Redmi Note 4G.
The Redmi Note features a 5.5-inch IPS LED HD display panel with an MTK6592 chipset sporting an 8-core processor clocked at 1.7GHz. The other is the Redmi Note 4G which also sports a 5.5-inch IPS HD display but is powered by a Snapdragon 400 chipset with a 4-core processor clocked at 1.6GHz.
The rest of the hardware specifications for the two devices are identical—2GB of RAM with 8GB storage, 13MP rear camera, 5MP front camera and 3100 mAh battery.
The only difference is the 4G capability, which is added to the latter model. Though 4G is not available in most parts of the country, and if available, will be expensive too, the non-4G model is an ideal choice.
Xiaomi has not launched the 4G model in India as yet. For now the non-4G model of the Redmi Note is available on sale from Flipkart.
Xiaomi has not yet specified anything on the Redmi Note 4G for a Flipkart sale.
However, Xiaomi has confirmed that the 4G models will be exclusively available in partnership with Airtel for a price of Rs 9,999.
As part of the Airtel partnership, Redmi Note 4G will retail at select Airtel stores in Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, Kolkata, Hyderabad and Chennai.
Xiaomi, in a press release, mentioned that both variants will be sold on Flipkart, but the e-commerce website displays only one model, the non-4G variant.
