Big Tollywood dinner for fundraiser
Industry hosting massive celebrity dinner to boost funds for Hudhud relief
Notwithstanding the strikes and the tiffs within the industry,T’town has shut down for the weekend for a fund raiser. On Saturday, the film industry has planned a gala dinner with 250 donor passes priced at Rs1 lakh each, and according to sources, 170 of them have already been sold.The ‘Dine with the Stars’ event will allow guests to rub shoulders with the industry’s best designers, artistes and biggies including, Chiranjeevi, Nagarjuna, Tabu, Kajal Aggarwal, Samantha and others; besides having a fashion show and other entertainment.
Rakul Preet Singh, who is currently shooting for Kick, says that the production, which is ready with an elaborate set for the film, has postponed a key scene.“Memu Saitam proves that humanity has no caste or religion. All actors have come together to do their best. We have been shooting for Kick and have a huge set-up done but when this event came up, we were more than excited to put the shoot on hold and be a part of it. It’s truly inspiring to see the efforts being made,” she says.
While Lakshmi Manchu will be walking the ramp in Shilpa Reddy’s recent Eiffel Tower collection, other designers will have the likes of Rana as showstoppers. The organisers have even roped in Shibani Kashyap for a performance.Deeksha Seth, who will be walking the ramp for the young designer Pratyusha, says, “I have some great memories of Vizag as we shot portions of Vedam there. Since then, I have visited the city often.
Seeing how much the city needs help now, this is the least I can do.”Raashi Khanna, who is shooting for Jill opposite Gopichand, will be singing for the first time at the event.“I am going to be singing and this is my first time. I wanted to support the cause in any way possible. After all, whatever I have achieved is thanks to people and its time for all of us to come together and give back to them,” she says, adding “I am shooting for Jill and the whole cast and crew has cancelled the shoot for Nov-ember 29 and 30 to be a part
of the event.”
