CBI may charge Badaun victims’ family
Kin to move SC against CBI’s claims that girls committed suicide
New Delhi: The CBI has decided to slap destruction of evidence charges against the relatives of both the Badaun victims, even as the fathers of the cousins have said that they will file a petition in the Supreme Court against the CBI’s claimed that the girls had committed suicide.
The probe agency has also decided to recommend “departmental action” against the cops who are being blamed for the botch-up in the investigation.
Sources said that the agency will soon file its final report recommending closure of the case before the court where it will give its findings. The CBI claimed to have based its conclusions on the basis of forensic reports received from three-member multi-agency medical board, Central Forensic Sciences Laboratory, Centre for DNA Fingerprinting and Diagnostics, FSL Gandhinagar among others.
However, in Badaun, families of the victims rejected the CBI conclusion. They sought the intervention of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to ensure an independent and fair probe.
“The CBI will put forth details of alleged destruction of evidence against three family members and a relative, Nazru, in its report. Probes revealed that a month after the incident, fathers of the victims allegedly transferred Rs 1 lakh each to the bank acc-ounts of the main eyewitness, Nazru, and their third brother, who also a witness from the Rs 5 lakh ex-gratia that the family had accepted,” sources said.
