Visakhapatnam: Minister for agriculture P. Pulla Rao said that Hudhud cyclone damaged around Rs 21,908 cr worth of properties in four districts, while interacting with media on Friday at Visakhapatnam. He said that the state government had worked hard to minimise the loss caused by the cyclone.
He submitted a report to the Central committee on behalf of state with an appeal of help in every possible way, owing to all districts being battered by the cyclone. Mr Pulla Rao said agricultural crops across 2.38 lakh of acres and horticultural crops across 87,000 acres were damaged in the four districts. 46 lakh hens and more than 5,000 livestocks died.
He said that except for Narendra Modi, none for the Prime Ministers so far have visited any cyclone affected area right on the third day after devastation. He added that Mr Modi immediately announced an aid of Rs 1,000 crore and released Rs 400 crore.
The central committee assessed damages in the districts and would submit the report to the Union government within a week. Ministers Ganta Srinivasa Rao, Ayyanna Patrudu, and K. Acchennaidu spoke.
Meanwhile, the Left party has alleged that the Central Committee has completed its tour without meeting political parties and peoples’ organisations. They tried to meet the committee and wanted to talk to the members. But the police did not allow them.
The Central committee has toured special economic zone in Achyuthapuram mandal on Friday.
