Gionee to also release a clamshell smartphone

Gionee is a popular brand both in India and China, especially because of its smartphone’s affordable price tags.

According to media reports, the Chinese smartphone manufacturer soon plans to launch Gionee W900, a clamshell smartphone, in China. The smartphone is quite similar to Samsung’s latest Android clamshell smartphone.

The Gionee W900 features a dual 4-inch HD AMOLED display, one on each side of the lid. The smartphone is powered by a 1.5 GHz quad-core processor, 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal memory. Gionee W900 sports a 13MP primary camera with autofocus and LED flash, and a 5MP secondary camera. The smartphone runs on the Android 4.4.4 KitKat operating system.

On the connectivity front, the Gionee W900 is equipped with LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, microUSB 2.0 and GPS with A-GPS. Lastly, the smartphone is fuelled with a 2500 mAh battery.

Although the prices of the Gionee W900 have not been revealed, it would definitely be much lower than Samsung’s Android clamshell smartphone.

Looking at the specifications of the smartphone, we really wish Gionee soon rolls out the handset in India too.
