The information is what will make Twitter more give the user a better experience

Update: 2014-11-29 17:43 GMT

Twitter is now keeping an eye on what apps the user is installing and using on their smartphones.

The social network giant is planning to start collecting data and sending it back to their servers for analysis. The new update to Twitter will have the option to this feature turned on by default and the user can opt out if he or she wants to.

According to re/code, Twitter is doing this for a simple reason ‘It’s trying to learn more about its user base so it can make more money selling ads.’

Twitter’s business model is completely dependant on targeted ads and at present they can personalize the ad feeds by analysing the tweet feeds and who the user follows.

The new move will also help Twitter get more followers. Twitter also spoke about the Instant Timeline earlier, which will allow a new user not to see a blank page when he is a new joinee.

The new update will roll out for iOS and Android users will see the update soon after that.
