Bangladeshi women pushed young girls in commercial sex racket trade
Chennai: What is the worth of a 20-year old girl forced into the flesh trade network in Tamil Nadu? It is as low as Rs5,000. This was revealed in the recent arrest of seven persons, including a Bangladeshi woman, for allegedly pushing the young girl in the commercial sex trade network. A principal sessions court Friday denied all seen bail. Roshini of Dinapur district in Bangladesh was working in Bandop Garment Factory in Dhaka. She was residing along with three other girls in a rented room.
Owner of the room, Raja became friends with Roshini and lured her that she could get more payment if she works in cumin seed factory in Bengaluru and assured her that with the help of his sister Kajoli and her husband, Manju, residing in Bengaluru could get her the job.Trusting him, Roshini and her three friends illegally crossed river and reached Indian border in West Bengal and proceeded to Howrah railway station and reached Bengaluru by a train.
Soon after selling the girls to the couple for Rs1 lakh, Raja disappeared from their house. The couple forced the girls to take alcohol and cigarette and compel them to satisfy carnal desire of 10 ‘customers’ per day. A week later, one among the four girl was missing. A fortnight later, Roshini was taken to Madurai in a bus by Manju and sold to Velrajan for Rs30,000. Subsequently, Velrajan sold her to Sathish for Rs12,500. After pushing her into the flesh trade for a week, Sathish returned the girl to Manju.
While she was forced in the illegal trade, she became friends with a ‘customer’, Vijayakumar of Madurai. She was in regular touch with him over mobile phone. She was sold to Nagalingam of Nagapattinam by Manju for Rs7000. Unable to withstand the pain and agony, she informed Vijayakumar about the ordeal. Vijayakumar rushed to Nagapattinam and engaged in a scuffle with Nagalingam. Later, Manju sold Roshini to Kadeeja Beevi of Karaikal for Rs 5000.
The girl, who escaped from the place, was found at Goripalayam bus stand on March 8, 2013. A woman SI, E. Valarmathi rescued her and identified the she had illegally migrated to India.Thallakulam police registered case against her under section 3 of Passport Act (Entry into India) 1920. On identifying that she had been pushed into flesh trade, cops altered the case and included sections 365, 372, 373, 342, 505 (ii) of IPC read with section 3 (2) (a), 4 (1), 5 (1), 6 (1), 7 (1) (b) of Immoral Traffic Act.
A team led by DSP, Mr R. Raja Srinivas conducted investigation and arrested Raja Kajoli, Manju, Velrajan, Sabarish, Nagalingam and Kadeeja Beevi. After the IV Metropolitan Magistrate court, Saidapet denied them bail, they had filed bail petitions before the Principal Sessions Court, Chennai which also dismissed the petitions.
