Islamic State recruit Areeb Majeed may face narcotics test

NIA to conduct narco and lie detector tests of Areeb Majeed

Update: 2014-12-01 02:19 GMT
Areeb Majid (encircled) was one of the four persons who disappeared from Kalyan, last month.

Mumbai: Interrogators questioning IS ‘recruit’ Areeb Majeed are looking into the possibility of him getting a local sponsor.

“We feel it might have been a local who financed their trip. This person could be a local IS recruiter who introduced Areeb and the boys to the materials on IS on the Internet.

His links with fruit seller Adil Dolare, who is being interrogated by the ATS, are under probe,” sources said.

“He also appears evasive when questioned further on the money angle and if he continues to stonewall, then we might have to conduct narco and lie detector tests,” the officer added.

NIA spokesperson, IG Rama Shastri, however, claimed it was “premature” to take a call.
