Kiss of Love deferred in Bengaluru, but cops keep vigil at Town Hall
Around 50 policemen were deployed at the venue

Bengaluru: Despite Kiss of Love event organisers backing out at the last moment and postponing the event, which was scheduled to be held on Sunday at Town Hall, the city police decided not to take any chances. They deployed policemen and put up the barricades at the venue to prevent any untoward incident.
Around 50 policemen under the supervision of DCP (Central) Sandeep Patil were deployed at the venue. Patil later told Deccan Chronicle, “As a preventive measure, the policemen were deployed at the venue in order to make sure that there is no law and order problem. Also, considering the fact that the event was postponed at the last moment, many participants and protesters would have not known about the late evening development and might have plans to join the ‘Kiss of Love’ campaign.”
Patil said the barricades were put up around Town Hall in the morning and removed later in the evening.
“I, along with two ACPs, including one woman officer, and other policemen were present at the venue from 3 pm to 6 pm.”
A day before the Bengaluru edition of the controversial protest against moral policing was scheduled, the organisers issued a statement announcing their decision to call off Sunday’s protest, which was scheduled to be held at Town Hall in the evening.
