Telangana government relaxing eligibility norms for issuing ration cards
The income from the land will also be taken into consideration
Hyderabad: The Telangana government has come out with guidelines relaxing eligibility norms for issuing ration cards to the poor.
Commissioner for civil supplies C. Partha Sarathi said the annual family income ceiling has been fixed at Rs 1.50 lakh in rural areas and Rs 2 lakh in urban areas so as to cover the lower stratum of employees in the private sector. The land ceiling limit has been fixed at 3.50 acres for wet land and 7.5 acres for dry land.
The mere possession of land alone is not the criteria for deciding eligibility for cards. The income from the land will also be taken into consideration. If the income from the land is less than the income ceiling prescribed above, the family shall be entitled to the card.
All Centre's AAY cardholders (Antyodaya Anna Yojana) families will be eligible for 35 kg of rice per month at Rs 1 per kg. Ration card holders shall be eligible for 6 kg per month per person at Re 1 per kg.
There is no upper ceiling on the number of persons for withdrawal of rice in any family. The family shall be entitled to 6 kg per person based on the number of persons in the family.
