Vijayawada: AP BJP state leadership has made plans to strengthen the party by utilising Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s charishma. As part of it, the BJP leadership has launched its membership drive here formally in the presence of union minister for urban development M. Venkaiah Naidu and party state affairs in-charge Rajeev Prathap Rudy.

The BJP has targeted to cross 10 lakh membership first time in Andhra Pradesh. It is almost half of its alliance Telugu Desam’s membership target. Presently, the BJP has below two lakh members in the 13 districts of Andhra Pradesh.

BJP has plans to increase it by six times in December. Already several top Congress leaders are in touch with BJP leadership and they may join the party, says senior leader Y. Raghunath Babu. They might also help develop the party base in Andhra Pradesh, he added.

However, the BJP leadership has plans to organise massive meeting with its state leaders in Guntur. Some senior leaders might also join  the meeting. AP BJP state president K. Hari Babu said that their main aim was to develop the party as one of the major political party in AP.

December is certainly going to be a crucial and busy month for BJP leaders in AP. Riding high on the Modi wave it is from December 6 that the state-wide membership drive of the party will be kick-started and then party chief Amit Shah is also expected to visit AP along with Telangana in the fag end of the month during which there will be so many inductions of leaders of various political parties.

In Vizag alone, party targeted one lakh membership aiming for upcoming GVMC polls.
