Kolkata: Sounding the poll bugle for the 2016 Assembly elections in West Bengal, BJP president Amit Shah on Sunday hit back at Trinamul Congress chief Mamata Banerjee and said: “My name is Amit Shah and I have come here to uproot Trinamul Congress from Bengal.”

This seemed to be in response to earlier comments made by Ms Banerjee while addressing a rally a week ago, where she had asked aloud who Amit Shah was.

Mr Shah, addressing BJP supporters at the rally site in front of Victoria House, near Esplanade, said: “She had asked who is Amit Shah. I want to tell her. I am Amit Shah. I am a small worker of the BJP.

I am here to throw Trinamool out of Bengal.” He asked people of Kolkata to mark the beginning of the change in Bengal by voting for the BJP in the 2015 Kolkata Municipal Corporation polls.
