CM N Chandrababu Naidu fears Japan family plan fiasco
Mr Naidu said family planning should be encouraged strategically
Hyderabad: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu fears a repeat of “Japan’s population planning failure” in AP too.
Mr Naidu who visited Japan and met its Prime Minister, ministers and representatives of over 500 companies said that though Japan has developed on all fronts despite being badly hit by WW II and being prone to earthquakes and cyclones it has failed on one front, and that is population planning.
He said, “When development takes place egos go up. There will be no marriages. I fear what will happen if women stop giving birth to babies in India too. In Japan the population went down due to failure of planning. India also may face this problem,”
Stating that the percentage of the young will go down drastically in such a case, he said that the population of the elderly will go up. So we must learn from Japan’s failure on this front and balance the family planning drive to ensure that the human cycle of young and old continues,” he said.
Mr Naidu said family planning should be encouraged strategically. Adding “Family planning, poverty alleviation, education of girls, all these three should be simultaneously implemented. I would prefer to have two crore more people in AP , than see the percentage of the young go down,”
