Guwahati: Tripura chief minister Manik Sarkar on Monday defended his decision to invite Prime Minister Mr Narendra Modi to meet his ministerial colleagues.

“What is wrong in inviting the PM to meet the ministers of my Cabinet?  Every state has its own specific problems, characteristics, advantages, disadvantages - the decision is for every respective state to take on its own,” Mr Sarkar told media persons.

Meanwhile, CPM rejected the reports that Mr Sarkar had invited Mr Modi. The party said the chief minister and his Cabinet colleagues would be submitting a memorandum to Mr Modi during their meeting at the government guest house.
