Land hunt to spur industrial growth
KCR keen to aid pharma, cinema city
Hyderabad: Within four days of enacting Telangana’s new industrial policy, Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao has sprung into action to identify suitable land in the city’s outskirts for setting up industrial parks.
Finding land for the Pharma City and Cinema City are on top of the CM’s agenda, for which he will be taking an aerial survey on Wednesday of Ranga Reddy, Mahbubnagar and Nalgonda districts along with officials and a few industrialists.
Though the CMO had kept details of the aerial survey a secret, it is learnt that the government has engaged three four helicopters to ferry senior officials from the CMO, indust-ries and revenue departments, besides a few industrialists.
Mr Chandrasekhar Rao convened a meeting with the district collectors of Ranga Reddy, Mahbubnagar and Nalgonda on Monday to assess the availability of land.
Mahbubnagar and Ranga Reddy collectors have identified 4,000 acres, of which 2,700 acres is suitable for industries.
The CM is keen to lay the foundations for the Pharma City and Cinema City here and begin works this month itself.
CMO sources said that Mr Rao has in principle decided to set up the Pharma City over 5,000 acre. He has zeroed in on Mucherla village in Ranga Reddy district for the purpose.
Officials have identified 2,700 acres of government land and are scouting for the remaining land.
Revenue officials have informed the government that another parcel of 1,200 acre is available within 2 km from Mucherla and the CM will undertake an aerial survey of the land.
Officials proposed the Rachakonda hillock area between Ranga Reddy and Nalgonda districts for the Cinema City as the area is already famous for film shootings.
However, the government of undivided AP had leased out 5,630 hectare to the Army in 2013 to set up the Rachakonda Field Firing Range though the works are yet to begun due to stiff opposition from locals.
It remains to be seen whether the TS government will try to take back the land from the Army or look at other land in the same area.
