Bihar cop Anil Kumar Sinha assumes office as new CBI chief
Meeting was attended by CJI HL Dattu & leader of Opposition, Mallikarjun Kharge

New Delhi: Anil Kumar Sinha, an IPS officer of 1979 batch (Bihar Cadre), who was appointed as the new director of the country’s premier investigating agency assumed office on Wednesday after taking over Ranjit Sinha who retired on Tuesday.
Mr Sinha was the special director, the second in command at the agency. His name was among the short-listed candidates chosen after a meeting at Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s residence on Tuesday.
The meeting was attended by Chief Justice of India H.L. Dattu and leader of the main Opposition in the Lok Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge.
