Mysuru: Chaithra, a 25-year-old MBA student who had handed over a 31-year-old eve-teaser to the police on Monday, was again in a similar situation on Wednesday. This time, however, she did not thrash the eve-teaser and handed him over to Devaraja police.

The accused, Jameel Ahmed (42), is a resident of Lashkar Mohalla and a used scooter dealer. He is married with two children.
Chaithra, who had received a felicitation by a women’s organization earlier in the day,  was returning to the KSRTC bus stand after visiting the temple on Chamundi Hills when the incident occurred.

She said, “I had gotten down near Hardinge Circle and was walking towards the KSRTC bus stand when I noticed this man following me. He came close to me and asked whether I worked in AT&S three years ago. He said suggestively that he was feeling bored, but I ignored him. After reaching the bus stand, I met two of my friends, and told them that if this man troubled me again, I might need their help.

As I walked further, the eve-teaser stopped the bike right in front of me and said, ‘What is wrong? I will pay you money if you come along with me’. I was furious and snatched his vehicle key. I did not want to thrash him as he was aged. Instead, I called the police. Soon people gathered, and the police vehicle arrived at the spot and picked him up.”

A case of sexual harassment under IPC section 354/A has been registered against the accused. He told the police that he was trying to talk to Chaithra as he thought she was his acquaintance, the police said.
