New Delhi: Navy Chief Admiral R.K. Dhowan on Wednesday indicated that human error was also one of the reasons that led to the destruction of India’s frontline conventional submarine INS Sindhurakshak that was gutted and sank after multiple explosions at the Mumbai naval dockyard on August 14, 2013.
“There are procedures that need to be followed aboard submarines. When procedures don’t get followed, then there is room for error. And whenever there is room for error, accidents can happen. We have not waited for the outcome of the inquiry because we have a very good idea of what went wrong. The remedial measures have already been put into place,” the Navy chief said.
