New Delhi: MoS for DoPT Jitendra Singh was pulled up by senior party leaders including minister for parliamentary affairs M. Venkaiah Naidu, for the faux pas contradicting the statement made by Amit Shah.

He later clarified that “no one has been given a clean chit as the matter (Saradha scam) is still being probed”.

Pouncing on the opportunity provided by contradictory remarks, Ms Banerjee, who was in Jalpaiguri, West Bengal, said, “I never speak without evidence. I know my boundaries. Some people think they can say anything they want just because a section of the media is supporting them.”

Late on Wednesday evening a story based on “official sources” was released by a news agency stating “the statement by Mr Singh, which appeared to contradict BJP chief’s allegations that Saradha scam money had been used to fund terror activities in Bangladesh, has been misinterpreted by the media.”
