Regional parties unite against BJP: Mulayam Singh Yadav to lead the merger
The new entity is likely to be called ‘Samajwadi Janata Dal’
New Delhi: The apparent fear of the BJP’s rise under Prime Minister Narendra Modi seems to have pushed regional satraps to revive the old Janata Parivar after over a decade, as six regional parties came together on Thursday for a common agenda and a “wish” to merge into one political entity.
The meeting was attended by JD(U) chief Sharad Yadav, RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav, JD(S) chief H.D. Deve Gowda, Samajwadi Janata Party chief Kamal Morarka, INLD leader Dushyant Choutala and Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav.
