Is Stalin party president or general secretary, asks Alagiri
Fued between brothers continue to haunt and embaress DMK
Chennai: The feud between brothers Alagiri and Stalin will continue to haunt DMK president M. Karunanidhi and embarrass his DMK, the latest demonstration of their hostility being the brief interaction that Alagiri had with the reporters at the airport here Wednesday morning.
“Who is he to say that? He is neither the party president nor the general secretary”, Alagiri shot back when a reporter asked him to comment on younger brother Stalin’s media interview where he had stated that those who had left the party or expelled could be considered for readmission if they expressed regret and apologized.
“Who has given him (Stalin) the right (to say that)? He has no authority”, said Alagiri, visibly annoyed. Asked for his view on G.K. Vasan reviving the Tamil Maanila Congress, Alagiri said in democracy, there was nothing wrong if someone wished to start a political party.
