Omagbeni scores both goals as hosts move up to fourth on ISL table
New Delhi: Dudu Omagbemi struck a brace as FC Pune City rose to semi-final contention with a dominant 2-0 victory over Mumbai City FC in their Indian Super League clash in Pune on Wednesday night. Dudu scored both goals in the second half to send Franco Colomba’s men soaring up to the fourth spot in the ISL table with 16 points from 12 games. Mumbai remain rooted to the bottom with 12 points.
But the match could have easily gone the other way had Tiago Ribeiro converted a penalty in the 51st minute for the visitors.Pune dominated right from the start with Dudu testing Mumbai custodian Subrata Paul several times.Mumbai were awarded a penalty against the run of play when Pritam Kotal stuck his hand out to control a cross in his area. Ribeiro stepped up and hit it to the right of Arindam Bhattacharya who got down well to make the stop.
