VM Sudheeran sees no scope for rethink
The policy got wide acceptance among women in the state
Kollam: Reiterating his stand on prohibition, KPCC president V.M. Sudheeran has said that the party would stick to the anti-liquor policy and that there would be no rethink on the issue.
He also pointed out that the technical grounds of the court verdict should not be a hindrance to the anti-liquor policy. The KPCC would conduct a legal battle on the matter, he told reporters on the occasion of the Janapaksha Yatra here on Thursday.
Saying that the implementation of prohibition was a historic decision, Mr. Sudheeran said there were some vested interests that fought against the policy.
“The policy got wide acceptance among women in the state. The court should not be against such sentiments. With the closure of bars, the consumption rate of alcohol had come down. The number of accidents and domestic violence was also declining,” Mr. Sudheeran said.
