Defamation case has been filed by the state government against DMDK chief

Case is filed at principal session court against DMDK chief Vijayakanth for making defamatory remarks against the government in connection with procurement of milk from private persons

Chennai: The Principal Sessions Court, Chennai, on Thursday directed DMDK chief and leader of Opposition in the Assembly Vijayakanth to appear before the court on January 21 in connection with a defamation case filed by the state government.

On behalf of the minister for milk and dairy development B.V. Ramanaa, city public prosecutor, M.L. Jegan filed the petition in the court on November 29 for making defamatory remarks against the government in connection with procurement of milk from private persons. Principal sessions court judge, (in-charge), S. Malathi, before whom the petition came up for hearing on Thursday, directed Vijaykanth to appear before the court on January 21.
