Hyderabad: The police arrested two Ghaziabad residents for diverting the attention of customers and robbing them. The accused lure customers with Apple products quoting a much lesser price than market rates. They then exchange the goods with bags containing stones after diverting the attention of the customers. Cops recovered booty worth Rs 2.6 lakhs from them.
The accused are Mohd Abbas Ali, 31, and Mohd.Mehandi Hassan, 35, both residents of Pasonda Village near Ghaziabad in UP. Additional DCP K.R. Nagaraju said the accused bring Apple laptops, Iphone and laptop bags purchased from New Delhi.
“They show the products and offer to sell at below market price. They keep ready bags filled with stones. When customers are busy counting cash they exchange the original pouches and flee the spot," said DCP Nagaraju.
They committed many offences in Hyderabad during September and November. Officials said Mehandi Hassan comes to the city in advance in train and book cheap lodges in Nampally and also arrange a scooter. Abbas Ali, the prime accused will travel from New Delhi by flight. The crime team nabbed the accused during a vehicle check at Ameerpet and recovered cash and other material, worth Rs 2.6 lakh from them.
