Scolded for tattoo, teen ends life
CCTV footage from the room showed him praying before hanging himself from the ceiling
Raipur: A 13-year-old school student hanged himself at his hostel room in Chhattisgarh’s Rajnandgaon district after his principal allegedly reprimanded him for tattooing a girl’s name on his hand, police said on Friday.
In his suicide note, addressed to his mother, Sushant Dhrube, the student of Class VIII student wrote, “Mom, I am going. I fervently desire to be your son in my next birth. I love you very much. Your loving son Sushant.”
According to the police, the CCTV footage recovered from the room showed the kid praying before hanging himself from the ceiling with a towel.
The boy perhaps could not take in his stride the scolding he had received for tattooing a girl’s name in his wrist and ended his life, preliminary probe by police has indicated.
“Action would be taken as per the probe outcome,” police said.
The boy was reportedly shifted to the hostel in the current academic year despite his resistance.
His father has been posted in Ambagarh in the district as block medical officer.
“Had the school authorities taken up the matter of tattooing with us before snubbing my son, the tragedy could have been averted,” police quoted the victim’s father P.R.Vasudev Rao, as saying.
