Duo makes taxis safer
HYDERABAD: A 32 year old Hyderabadi and his 22 year old friend have taken cab services and security to another level with their new start-up venture, which provides alcohol detection testers to its customers to verify their drivers' alcohol levels before the ride.
The Taxi on Mobile service also has GPS tracking systems and 24X7 cab surveillance centres that keep track of the route that is fed in the system and any deviation immediately sends an alert.
Founders Yeshwanth Vepachedu and Uday Jindal will soon expand the service to 16 other cities.
“More than 50 per cent of our patrons are corporate customers. Female employees who have to travel back home alone during late hours would definitely want to be monitored.
And hence, we have two ways to ensure security for them, one is the alcohol level detector and second is the alerts through SMS and GPS.We give the drivers a route map and any deviation is immediately notified,” said Mr Yeshwanth.
“When we came up with this idea, we already had an analysis of the cab services that were running in the city and many complained that security was a major concern. I spoke to a lot of drivers and people in the city to understand their needs and hence this concept came up.
Many countries like the USA and UK have developed similar technologies and we should not lag behind,” he added.
Making it more interesting, the cab service also has a facility for people traveling long distances to pre-order breakfast in the cab.
