My son is a fighter, will not quit, says Yuvraj Singh's mother
‘Take it from me that he is not considering to quit the game’
Mumbai: Shabnam Singh was not expecting the axe would fall on her son and that he would not find a place in the probables list for the 2015 World Cup.
Yuvraj Singh, Virender Sehwag, Gautam Gambhir, Zaheer Khan and Harbhajan Singh, the five seniors have been omitted from the provisional list for the World Cup. It is being discussed that these players might never play again for the country.
However, Yuvraj's mother is optimistic.
Speaking exclusively over the phone on Friday, she said, "What can we do if he is not chosen. I was expecting his recall but didn't think of his omission. It is not the end of the road for him. He is a fighter and will return".
Shabnam has been a pillar of strength for Yuvi, who will turn 33 on December 12.
"I shall try and make him realise that it’s just the part of the game and he will come out of it. He will be playing a Deodhar Trophy match in Patiala on Sunday. I am yet to talk to him but take it from me that he is not considering to quit the game".
In 2011, Yuvraj was in his top form and had helped India win the World Cup vanquishing the yesteryear demons. His performance in the series fetched him the Player of the Series award.
"He bravely fought Cancer and similarly will fight for his place in the team", the mother hoped.
