Kottayam: The water level in the Mullaperiyar dam  decreased to 135.1 feet on Saturday easing the worries of the public in the district.

Tamil Nadu is taking 1,100  cubic litres of water per minute from the dam  now. This will be continued till December 15.

The water level is being lowered to conduct the maintenance works. There was no rain in the catchment area for the last few days  and the flow of  water is slow, sources said. Tamil Nadu had earlier increased the water level to 142 feet.
