Khaleej Times, Dubai & Gulf Times, Doha carried reports of TOI lifting DC’s classifieds

Hyderabad: The international media is beginning to take note of The Times of India being investigated for the theft of Deccan Chronicle’s classified advertisements
Two prominent newspapers in the Gulf — Khaleej Times of Dubai and Gulf Times, Doha, Qatar — on Sunday carried reports about The Times of India lifting Deccan Chronicle’s classified ads starting from January 2013.

Both newspapers serve a large number of readers, many of whom are expat Indians apart from people of different nationalities. Additionally, the-hoot.org, a 36-year-old media body also reported on the theft of classified ads by The Times of India. The report was titled ‘TOI stealing classifieds?’

Last week, the Indian Journalists Union and the Madras Union of Journalists, the oldest union of journalists in South India, had slammed The ToI for pilfering classified advertisements from DC.
