Chain snatcher nabbed by Osmania University police

Hyderabad: The Osmania University police nabbed a notorious chain snatcher who is involved in about 10 cases on Monday.

They recovered gold, a bike and other material worth Rs 9 lakh from him. The accused, Mohd. Jahangeer alias Parvez Baba, 29, is a resident of Pahadi Shareef.

DCP East Zone V. Ravinder said the accused targets women walking alone on lonely roads and snatches their gold.

After snatching the gold he abandons the bike used for the offences in busy parking areas. The police took him into custody at vehicle checking point at Habsiguda near OU.

He confessed during interrogation. He said that he was earlier arrested by Afzalgunj police, CCS police, and Shivrampally police.
