Vijayawada: The police is finding it difficult to probe the death of the 16-year-old girl, who was repeatedly raped by her school teachers and underwent abortion thrice, as her body was cremated instead of being buried.

“The body of the girl was burnt. Bodies of  unmarried girl are generally buried, but the girls’ parents and the relatives are claiming that it was their custom to burn the body.

And, it was done with the consent of their caste heads,” said investigation officer  Y. Sudhakar.  “The community elders, who approved the  cremation would be nabbed,” Mr Sudhakar aid.

“It was just to erase all the evidences. The parents, the accused head master and the English teacher managed to connive people that the girl died out of dengue”, said a resident of Vakkalagadda village.

Meanwhile, the police is yet to establish the identities of the nurses and the doctors who terminated the minor’s pregnancy thrice resulting in health complications, which led to her death.

“We are taking help of the government doctors to investigate further”, said Mr Sudhakar when asked about why the doctors in the private hospital of Vijayawada, where the the girl was treated before death, did not alert the authorities that she had undergone abortion several times before.
