New Delhi: The India leg of the International Premier Tennis League carnival came to an end in the capital on Monday, but not before bringing the creme de la creme of the sport, including Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic to the Indian fans.

The legendary Pete Sampras of Indian Aces stepped on court on Monday for the past champions encounter against Goran Ivanisevic of the UAE Royals but the American could not live up to the expectations.

He was unable to match the high speed of the format and withdrew from the tie after cramping in his thigh. Aces player-cum-coach Fabrice Santoro then took over, but fell 3-6.

Earlier in the women’s singles, Aces’ Ana Ivanovic went down fighting to Kristina Mladenovic 5-6 via shootout in 31 minutes as Royals took a 14-9 lead.

The first match saw Manila Mavericks handing a 23-17 defeat to Singapore Slammers. The win pushed the Mavericks to the second spot.

Much to the spectators’ delight, Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan teamed up with Federer to play an exhibition match against Sania Mirza and Djokovic.

Diva Deepika Padukone, Akshay Kumar and Riteish Deshmukh also joined them to add more glamour to the night.
