Arrested for selling ganja to students

Kochi: A notorious criminal was held near Ernakulam Ambedkar stadium on Tuesday for selling ganja to students. The accused was identified as Jomon (33), resident of Kunnel House, Amaravathi, Fort Kochi.

Over a kilo ganja, a knife, two mobile phones, currency notes and plastic covers were seized from his possession in the joint operation by the Shadow police and the Central police.

“He was selling ganja mainly to students around the Ambedkar stadium for Rs 500 perpacket. He used to obtain the substance in bulk quantity from Kambam in Tamil Nadu," police said.

Jomon had earlier undergone one-and-a half-year jail term in connection with a murder attempt case lodged with the Kannur Mayyazhi police station.

Cases are pending against him at various police stations including Trikkakara, North, Tripunithura and Kalamassery.
