65-yr-old woman robbed of gold chain in broad daylight
ChennaiA quartet of women waylaid a 65-year-old woman and looted her of her three-sovereign gold chains under the pretext of asking her for an address and fleeing in an autorickshaw on Tuesday.

The incident happened in broad daylight near Muthu Road junction off Santhome High Road, Mylapore when the victim, K Azeez Unisha, (65), was on her way to the market. They showed her a piece of paper with an address while one of them grabbed her gold chains, police sources said.

They then quickly boarded an auto rickshaw parked a few metres away and sped away while the shocked lady raised alarms. The woman later informed her son who was at the family’s laundry shop in Mylapore. Her husband was at their shop in Icehouse, police said.  The Mylapore police have registered a case and are investigating.

“We are trying to match the identities provided by the victim with that of serial offenders. We are also in the process of collecting CCTV footage from nearby localities,” an investigating official said.
