Health Secretary writes to PWD Secretary on EMC building takeover
Health Secretary will write a formal letter to the PWD secretary for taking over the buildings and roads
Kochi: A meeting called by the Health Secretary Dr K Elangovan in the state capital on Tuesday to discuss the steps to be taken for the complete transition of Ernakulam Medical College into a government medical college decided to fill up the posts of faculties through deputation from other medical colleges and also through contract appointments.
The meeting attended by among others College Principal Dr Praveen Lal and Special Officer Dr Junaid Rehman, also decided to expedite the steps for the handing over of the buildings of the medical college and the roads on the campus to the PWD.
The Health Secretary will write a formal letter to the PWD secretary for taking over the buildings and roads.
Once the letter reaches the PWD secretary, the PWD will be able to take over the building s and the roads. PWD presently has a corpus of Rs 4 crore exclusively for government medical colleges and once the letter reaches the PWD secretary, they will be able to use a sizeable chunk for EMC works.
The filling up of the vacancies is expected to help the medical college get the Medical Council of India approval for future terms.
