Online campaign against Uber taxis
The petitioner urged people to sign the petition
KOCHI: Alina Tiphange, a Delhi-based citizen, has launched an online petition campaign against Uber, the US-based taxi services provider for adopting a double standard in India.
According to Alina, if the company had followed the system practiced by it in the US, the rape of a 25-yr old woman in Delhi, allegedly by a taxi driver, could have been avoided, she pointed out in her petition.
According to the petition, Uber undertakes a 7 year antecedent checking of individuals taken as drivers by the company. In the case of India, the same thing was not followed and this amounted to double standards, the petition said.
The petitioner urged people to sign the petition, “so that we can create public pressure and let Uber know that we will not tolerate their double standards. Uber, your image is on the line and you must take the safety of your Indian customers seriously”.
