VELLORE: Friends and relatives of Mullai area, near Vaniyambadi, organised a mass protest with a body at the doorstep of a financier who had allegedly killed the young boy as his father did not return the loan amount. According to sources, Govindan, working as a daily wage earner, borrowed Rs1 lakh from financier Ranjan. Over the years, according to Govindan, he had repaid more than Rs1 lakh with interest.


According to Govindan, on Monday when the financier with some rowdies came to the house and demanded the money back, Govindan refused to pay anything more. Hence, in order to take revenge against the debtor, when his son Karthik was returning home from college, he was killed, the family alleged. They said the boy’s body was found in a field near his house on Wednesday morning.

Govindan alleged the killing of his son was the handiwork of the financier. Hence, the villagers took the body to the financier’s house and demanded justice.Following the intervention of the Gudiyattam police and upon the promise that they would take action against the financier, the villagers left with the body.A case has been registered and further investigations are on.
