Hyderabad: Afzalgunj police and MRO will exhume the body of the person found dead in OGH and doctors from the state forensic lab will conduct a DNA test to identify the body with the court’s permission.
The exhumation and DNA test will be conducted on Friday to settle the dispute between two families over identity of the deceased. The families have given their consent to the police for the process.
Police said the body was buried by the family of 70-year-old Mohammed Saleem from Kishanbagh. “The doctors will collect a bone sample and will match it with the DNA of the sons of both the deceased,” said inspector C. Anjaiah.
The 55-year-old Md. Rafiq, a resident of Amberpet, had gone missing 10 days ago and his family found that his photo and a photo of the body in the mortuary matched.
However, by the time they reached the mortuary the body was taken by another family from Kishanbagh who claimed that it was their relative Mohammed Saleem. The family of Rafiq alleged the police and mortuary authorities misplaced the body without checking the identity of the deceased.
