Students up to +2 can travel free by KSRTC
The facility will not be available on Saturdays and Sundays
THIRUVANANTHAPRUAM: Students up to Plus-Two level would be allowed free travel in KSRTC ordinary buses from February 1 next year. This was announced by Transport Minister Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan in the Assembly on Thursday.
About 1.30 lakh students, who currently avail of concessional travel facility from the corporation, would be given free passes. Two free trips would be allowed daily from Monday to Friday on all school working days. The facility will not be available on Saturdays and Sundays.
Thiruvananthapuram: Students need to pay just Rs 10 to get free travel card for the entire academic year. With this scheme, the KSRTC had turned into a public service organization with social commitment, he said.
Mr Thiruvanchoor said the scheme would also help the corporation pass on the benefits of the reduction in diesel prices to the students.
