CBSE Class X online evaluation not now
The marking scheme and answer script will be provided online to the teachers
KOCHI: It may take some more time for Kerala schools to introduce the online evaluation of the Class X final exam answer sheets as the Trivandrum region authorities, which cover Kerala schools, have assessed that all the schools here were not yet ready with necessary infrastructure and connectivity to implement the online system.
“If it is introduced now, it will delay the publication of the results to a great extent and make the system go haywire. So the governing body of the CBSE will take a final decision on introducing it in Trivandrum region.
But it is unlikely in 2015,” said Mahesh Dharmadhikari, regional officer, CBSE, Trivandrum region, after the two-day All Kerala Principals conference and training, organised by Kerala Sahodaya Complexes here on Saturday.
CBSE Controller of Examinations K K Chaudhary said that several regions had started implementing the on-screen marking (OSM) system this year and he expected Trivandrum region to implement it fast.
However, Dharmadhikari said that the ground had to be prepared for its implementation. Under OSM, the marking scheme and answer script will be provided online to the teachers.
“With OSM, we can advance result declaration by one week and teachers will not miss any answer of the students in the answer script as the system will not allow that.
Wrong totaling also will not take place,” said Chaudhary, who also spoke in the concluding session of the meet.
Chaudhary also said that Kerala was the only state that gave grace marks for co-curricular and extra-curricular activities in Class XII board exams which put CBSE and ICSE students in a disadvantageous position in engineering admission.
“Out of the 53 boards in the country, only the Kerala board does that and hence CBSE cannot introduce it at this juncture.
Since education is in the concurrent list, we can’t interfere with it also,” he told a principal who raised a query in this regard.
