Hyderabad: Hamsa bin Omer Al Jabri, alias Zaffar Pahelwan of Yakutpura, the vice-president of All India Wrestling Federation, who was taken into custody by the police for alleged illegal financing and forcibly collecting money from poor, has denied all the allegations here on Saturday. He was speaking at a media conference in his house.
Zaffar Pahelwan said he got the name “Pahelwan” as he was a well-known wrestler and asserted that he wasn’t involved in anything illegal. He claimed that the police was harassing him for reasons not known to him. “Two false cases were filed against me. I have been acquitted in one case while another case is pending in court,” the 65-year-old said.
