2 men accused for gangraping women during Muzaffarnagar riots arrested
The duo were arrested while they were appearing for a written exam at the police recruitment centres
Muzaffarnagar: Two persons, who were allegedly involved in gangrape cases during Muzaffarnagar riots, were arrested from police recruitment centres in Moradabad while appearing for an exam.
The two accused, Gaurav and Amardeep, were arrested on Sunday while appearing for a written exam at the police recruitment centres, said SP (Rural) Alok Priyadarshi.
Reportedly the accused had already appeared for their physical tests before they were arrested, he added.
The duo, who were produced in a court on Monday, have been sent to judicial custody till December 23.
According to SIT sources, attachment proceedings against the two have been initiated by court in connection with the cases.
The Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the riots had found the involvement of 25 people in six gangrape cases out of which 24 accused have been arrested. One last accused is still absconding in connection with the case.
More than 60 people were killed and 40,000 displaced during riots in Muzaffarnagar district and its adjoining areas in September 2013.
